Xemnaschrist - up next

Currently, we’re living in a renaissance of music culture. Artists blowing up overnight, producers creating sub genres of sub-sub genres, and talent being able to find their sound in record time. Xemnaschrist is one of the many to find himself thriving in this culture, giving us the polished production font of peak Justin Timberlake with their track ‘how bout u?’, and sitting us back down in front of our Nintendo Wii through the soundscapes of their song ‘twilight’. We got to ask the artist about their process, some of his collaborations that he’s enjoyed working with, and what’s next for him.

What got your start into making music?

I was just bored and, listening to a lot of Tyler the creators projects when he was ace, I took inspo from some of the TikTok’s I saw, where producers would screen record the project file and post it, so I started doing that to and my first TikTok went viral.

“…and if it comes to me it comes to me but if doesn’t, I just try again later. I never force anything.”

You sit down at your daw, you’re about to start making music, how does your process usually work?

I usually listen to lots of different music for a while, then I just start playing stuff on my keyboard and if it comes to me it comes to me but if doesn’t, I just try again later. I never force anything.

Your most recent release ‘i thought about leaving you behind is insane. The song is very dariacore (hyperflip) and it’s been so fun seeing that scene grow. It’s also so different from your album ‘early internet’. Was it fun to breakout and release something different like that?

Haha, thank you. Athera was the driving force of that song, I was just the sample maker in that track. Athera brought that whole song to a different life. I snapped, but he went crazy on that for sure. that track is definitely to showcase a new musical direction though; I will be venturing in the realm of more edm/digicore esque stuff.

Is there any song or project that you’ve been on or worked on that holds a special meaning to you?

There’s one beat I never finished, but it is a snippet on Youtube, it’s called “bliss” it’s my favorite beat, and I’m not too sure why.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

What video games shaped you growing up?

Kingdom Hearts, Rhythm Heaven, Crash, Wii sports resort, Spyro, Spore, Portal 1 & 2, Undertale and Deltarune for sure.

Any collaborations you’ve really enjoyed working on music with? Or anybody that has really stood out to you?

I have this unreleased deltarune spinoff kind of track with my friend xaev. neither of us really like the track, lol it was just for fun tbh, but I loved working on it with him. super influential artist.

Do you have any big projects, or any new songs we should expect soon?

I have a tape I'm working on, it should be done by February. stacked feature list, good instrumentals, good collabs, I'm excited!
